CAN-AM 360 SPRINT CHALLENGE AT AUTODROME GRANBY: MAY 11 & 12, 2012 

Autodrome Granby is proud to announce the presentation of a premiere sprint car challenge at his ½ mile dirt circuit. A 2 day racing event, which will reunite the top 360 sprint car competitors in the north-east. Canadian and American competitors will face each other in a gruelling battle for a total purse exceeding $36,000.  

The two day event will feature a pre-qualifying round on Friday, with winners of the twin 15 mini-features automatically qualified in the top 10 grid for Saturday’s finale. Over $8,000 in purse for those pre-qualifying round.  

Saturday’s grand event will see $1,600 purse for the top five cars in time trials. Each heat race will have a $500 purse for the top 5 cars and a $26,625 purse for the grand finale. A $5,000 prize awaits the winner of this event and $500 prize for last place.  

The top 15 positions on the starting grid for this finale will be based on a point system, all points accumulated through time trials and heat races for the Saturday portion of the event will determined who starts where. Top point man will start on the pole and so on.  

A $50 registration fee per car is required for this event, it must be paid to ‘’Autodrome Granby’’ before March 1st 2012. Registration fee after March 1st and before May 1st will be $60. All registrations after May 1st will be $75.

Friday:

Gates Open – 11:00 AM (That’s what they will be shooting for) – Officially open at 4:00

ASCS Rules Apply
Gaskets allowed
No Cockpit adjustables other than top wing.
Mufflers, transponders and one-way radios are mandatory
All wing rules from any sanction will be honored
Right Rear Tire Rule only, any sanctions listed tires are legal. Other three are open. Hoosier tire Canada will have a truck on hand, both soft and hard compound RR will be stocked. Methanol will also be available.
No Metal Mud inserts will be allowed, must be either foam or plastic.
You may leave your haulers in the pits over night on Friday, security will be on hand all night.
Please note, Granby was vandalized over the winter and power hook ups on the poles in the infield are not working. Please bring your generators.

Friday’s Qualifying Procedure:
Draw for heat race starting positions
Four Heat Races – 8 Laps Each.
Finish of first heat will be inside row of A-Main #1
Finish of second heat will be outside row of A-Main #1
Finish of third heat will be inside row of A-Main #2
Finish of fourth heat will be outside row of A-Main #2

Twin 15 lap A-Mains - $500 to win. Winners will be guaranteed to start no further than 9th and 10th in Saturday’s A-Main respectively. Double File restarts except for last two laps.

Friday A-Mains Purse: 1. $500, 2. $450, 3. $400, 4. $350, 5. $300, 6. 275, 7. $250, 8. 225, 9-Last $200.

Saturday’s Qualifying Procedure:
Draw for time trial order.
Group Time Trials at 5 cars at a time, 3 laps on the clock.
Points will be earned, 3 pts. to time, 5 bonus pts. for fast time of group.
Note* - All entry fees will go to a purse for the top five time trailers.
Four heats races 8 laps line up based on time trials, top 4 cars in the finish qualify for A-Main.
Points earned in heats, 3 pts to take green, 1 pt. for each car passed, 5 pt. bonus for win.
Top 16 in A-Main will then line-up based on pts earned (tie breaker will be based on time trials). If any of the winners from Fri. did not qualify they will be added to the line-up, rest of field will be moved down.
All non-qualified cars will go to B-Main, line-up based on time, 12 laps top 8 cars will qualify for A-Main (Note, number of qualifiers may change due to guaranteed starters from Friday)– 2 spots will be reserved for promoters option.

A-Main is 30 laps and will be double file restarts except for last 5 laps. Top 5 directly to scales, Top 5 will be under technical inspection. A result of missing scales or failing tech will be disqualification and positions will be moved up.

Saturday A-Main Purse: $5,000, 2,500, 1,500, 1,250, 1,000, 950, 900, 850, 800, 750,725,700,675, 650, 625, 600, 575, 550, 525, 20-28 – 500.

 

Racing format  

Friday, May 10th

Hot laps;  4 lap session  

Heats;  3 heat of eight laps each (draw), 3 points per car + 5 points for win, 1 point per passed car and a bonus point for fastest lap in heat race. Points total will determined starting grid for twin 15 qualifiers. Winners of the twin 15 qualifiers will automatically start no farther than 9th and 10th on Saturday’s grand finale.  

Saturday, May 11th  

Hot laps;        4 lap session  

Time trials;    - 5 cars at a time (draw)

                       - 2 laps clocked

                       - Fastest lap counts

                       - 3 points per car + 5 point bonus for fastest time.  

Purses;     1st  $520   2nd  $420   3rd  $320   4th  $220    5th $120

(Purse paid from registration fees, based on a 32 car field)  

Heats;             Three heats of 8 laps (draw), the top five cars transfer to A-main. Point-system in effect.  1st $150   2nd $125   3rd $100   4th $75  5th $50  

B-main;  

-       All non qualified cars included 

-       12 laps

-       Top 13 transfer to A-main

-       Result establish 16th to 28th starting position

-       Non-qualified cars get $200 tow money  

Point system;

-       Time trials are 3 points per car + 5 points for fast time, last receives 3 points, each position above add 3 points.

-       Heats are 3 points per car + 5 points for win

-       1 point per car passed

-       1 point for fast lap of heat

-       Points accumulated for top 15 qualifiers will determine the starting grid

-       All restarts are double filed except last two laps  

Feature;    28 cars for a 30 lap event, double file restart except last 5 laps. Top 15 established by point system, balance of field by B-main result. Top five cars at checkered will go directly to scales and inspection. If a car fails inspection, it is automatically disqualified and looses all purses, no exceptions, following positions moves up one rank. ASCS rules in application, ASCS gasket motors allowed. Tires allowed as per sanctioning bodies (ESS, Patriots, URC, Corr-Pak sprints, SOS)
